Queensland really is “beautiful one day and perfect the next” – it’s why I chose to live here. Warm Winters with bright blue skies that make you think you are on a permanent holiday. And a tropical summer that makes a trip to the beach for a surf on Christmas Day something special.

But we do get one thing in summer and that’s rain. It’s been a fairly ordinary summer this year.  We had floods in January from an ex cyclone, and now we have another low pressure system sending more rain, wind and high tides.

I took this photo on the weekend because it’s a rare sight to see such dramatic beach erosion that has left cliffs 3 meters high along the “best beach in the world”.  It makes me sad to think it will take so long to rebuild this magnificent beach (you can see the sand in the crashing waves), but it doesn’t stop tourists and locals alike from getting their sandy toes stuck into what beautiful sand is left. A beach draws us in whatever condition it is in!
